Our Pastor...

Our pastor, the Rev. David T. Mensing, was born in 1940, the eldest son of  our founding pastor.
Since the age of eight years, Pastor Mensing has been a “local” among us and was confirmed,
married, and ordained at the Lord’s altar here in our own congregation.
From 1961 to 1986, he taught in the public school system on all levels from
the primary grades to junior college, and, as a layman, held offices both in the
local congregation and in our Conference.  During eleven years of part-time
study, he prepared for the ministry here locally at the Concordia Theological
Seminary of our Conference, graduating in 1980.  In 1983, he received his
first call and served a mission congregation of our Conference in Brisbane,
Australia for two and one-half years.  When his father retired from the ministry
in 1986, we called Pastor Mensing “back home” to serve as our shepherd.
Since that time, with his local pastoral work, his biweekly schedule
on-the-road for our Midland contingent until January 2006, and at-large work for the Conference, he
has been an extremely busy man, but, by God’s grace, a tireless worker and a faithful overseer over
our flock.  In April 2006, the congregation celebrated with gratitude to God Pastor Mensing's
twentieth anniversary as our dear shepherd.  He and his wife of thirty years, Alison, live in the
parsonage adjacent to the church.  Their four grown children, Dave, Mike, Margaret and Dan, a
daughter-in-law, Dave's wife Missy, and another generation represented by two sweet little
granddaughters, Bella and Hope, are a great blessing in that, by God's grace, all are happily in "the
unity of the Spirit" and "in the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4:3) together in our precious fellowship.
